My musical background is mostly in hard rock and heavy metal. Born and raised in Baltimore City, I began taking guitar lessons at Yeager's Music Store in the Late '60s. I had always been a fan of The Beatles and '60s' music, but when I began playing publicly, in the early '70s, the music of the day that appealed to me most was the hard rock of Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, Alice Cooper, and others. I played in several bands over a 25-year period, the most well known being Silver Queen from 1973 - 1977. After leaving Silver Queen, I began writing and performing my original music and released a "single" 45 rpm record in the Baltimore area. During the '80s I began playing heavy metal by groups such as The Scorpions, Judas Priest, AC/DC and other metal groups of the time. I also began traveling to New York to record several of my songs and eventually had two of my songs placed on local artists' compilation albums. I also performed "show case" sets of my original music in Baltimore, New York and Philadelphia. After 25 years of performing in Maryland, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and the surrounding area, I relocated to the beach area in 1994. A few years later, the musical transition began when I started learning the acoustic guitar styles of The Beatles and others. Early in 2002, I began looking for other musicians to form an acoustical group. I contacted Jim after seeing his profile as a guiarist/vocalist on the Internet and we quidkly began learning songs together. |
